Alexandra Salmela (b. 1980) is an author and dramaturge who writes both in Finnish and Slovak. She won the Helsingin Sanomat Literature Prize with her debut novel 27, or Death Makes an Artist (2010), which was also nominated for the Finlandia Prize. Her first children’s book Mother Giraffe and Other Silly Adults (2013) was nominated for Arvid Lydecken Prize. Her second novel Antihero came out in 2015, and her children’s novel Fantastickle Friend in 2019.
