Dr Julia Korkman (b. 1977) is one of the foremost Nordic experts in legal psychology and the current President of the European Association of Psychology and Law. She has a long background both as a researcher and working practically with criminal cases. Currently she is working as a senior programme officer at the European Institute for Crime Prevention and Control, affiliated with the UN, and as a professor of practice with the Faculty of Law at Åbo Akademi. Her areas of expertise include investigative interviewing, legal decision-making and evidence assessment, disclosure and risk factors of child abuse, willingness to file police reports among sexual crime victims and eyewitness identifications. Dr Korkman has served as an expert witness in a number of important legal cases in Finland and Sweden. Memory Dependent (2022) is her first popular nonfiction book, and it was published to wide critical acclaim.
