Forrest’s family have extraordinary powers with colours. They can move objects of their own colour through the effort of their will.
Forrest is the baby of the family and his colours are green, and the blue and yellow of which it is composed. He enjoys his growing skills with colour powers and the liberation of his family, particularly on his green forest trips with his father and his big sister, Skye. He is not so sure about nursery school, which he is due to start in the autumn.
A new, freer life than before nevertheless brings dangers with it. Who is the strange black-and-white man who lives on the nearby garden plot? Why is Bruno’s arrival at the so-called Autumn Hill followed by those of Uncle Curry, Aunt Magenta and the suspiciously gold boy, Shine?
Soon the Hues must find a joint way of protecting themselves from the awful Greyness which has this time come even closer.
The Shadow Guest is the third book in Vuokko Hurme’s The Hues series. Reetta Niemensivu’s expressive line drawings sketch in green detail.
