Jona, Ebba, and Linnea are almost too big for day nursery. And they also have new shovels. These facts coalesce when the friends make a tantalizing discovery on the nursery playground. It’s the beginning of a tunnel they started digging when they were just little, which they had forgotten about! Soon they’ve made an opening under the fence big enough for a child to pass through.
When their teacher Mona gets sleepy during the children’s nap time, it gives the friends a perfect opportunity to escape. Being free is completely different. And what do they find outside the preschool? Another runaway, who needs to be protected from the dangers of the outside world!
The Runaways is wittily written by Malin Klingenberg and wonderfully illustrated by Maria Sann. Their previous collaboration, Skeleton, was published in 2022.
